On Friday, December 15th, 2017 at 2:35pm the West Fargo Fire Department responded to the area of 2253 Shiloh St for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, Battalion 7-0 established command and found fire coming from the roof of the building. A working fire was declared and Engine 7-0, Engine 7-1, Ladder 7-6, Rescue 7-4, C-1, C-4, and C-10 responded. After a brief investigation, it was found that the fire was contained to the chimney of a crematorium in the building. A malfunction of the environmental controls allowed the fire to escape the vault and vent through the chimney. The unit was shut down and it was determined that no extension occurred from the crematorium into the structure. All fire department units returned to service and command was terminated.
