During the evening on September 5th, 2018, firefighters and officers of West Fargo Fire & Rescue met to complete the next step of the 2019-2024 Strategic Plan process. The meeting was designed to research what internal and external factors will come into play in the next five years. This information was considered, and then an exercise to catalog the organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges that will shape the future. The future of the department will be shaped by population growth, land growth, call volumes, and city demographics. An overall SWOC analysis on the department was accomplished, plus training and building/grounds needs.
The next steps include drafting objectives to meet new challenges, sustain current practice or adjust current practices. Each of these objectives will have a target date for completion or a benchmark to begin the process. After these objectives are complete, a public planning session will be held to show the community the work that has been completed.
