Members of West Fargo Fire & Rescue, along with Mapleton, Dwight Rural, Valley City, Buffalo, Kindred, and Goodrich Fire Departments recently participated in a Hazardous Materials Operations Class at the Central Fire Station. The eight hour class covered the regulation regarding hazardous materials response, size up and identification, basic chemistry, response plans and weapons of mass destruction incidents. The hands on portion of the class instructed the students on how to don and doff chemical protective clothing, how to conduct defensive operations, and how to establish a decontamination line. The members of the department that participated were taking the course to become certified and complete their Firefighter 1 certification through Pro-Board and the North Dakota Firefighters Association. Thanks to all who gave up a day off of work to participate.
