Unemployment or Census Assistance
West Fargo Public Library staff are available by appointment on Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m. to assist patrons with unemployment or 2020 Census questions. Focusing specifically on the topics of filling out unemployment or this year’s census, the West Fargo Public Library hopes to aid members of the West Fargo community whose employment may be adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic or who need help filling out the 2020 Census questionnaire.
Interested patrons can sign up for an appointment on Calendly. Appointments can be either in-person (socially distanced in a large meeting room) or virtual. Patrons are welcome to bring their own laptops or devices or the library can make one available for them to use. Upon arriving for an in-person appointment, patrons should head to the service desk to let staff know they have arrived. They will then be escorted to the meeting room.
“People depend on the library as an essential service during times of recession,” Carissa Hansen, Library Director said. “We’re here to support the economic health of the community now and as we recover from COVID-19.”
Ask A Genealogist
West Fargo Public Library Staff Genealogist Jackie Marler is excited to take the popular "Ask a Genealogist" program virtual. Marler is available by appointment from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays to assist patrons with their family history research.
Formerly in-person, the "Ask a Genealogist" program allows patrons to sit down with an experienced genealogist to discuss topics such as how to use the West Fargo Public Library resources, where to begin when researching family history, tips and tricks for overcoming research obstacles and other questions patrons may have about genealogy. Those interested in booking an appointment can sign up at www.calendly.com/westfargopubliclibrary.
